Lagos
The West of the Algarve has a long stretch of coast with a wide range of beaches.
Beaches around Lagos are some of the most beautiful of the Algarve, however is the promontory named Ponta da Piedade which houses the Lagos Bay which is much appreciated by visitors, with its caves, rocks and surprisingly transparent waters. North of Lagos, is the dam of Bravery which is a water tank where you can observe magnificent views.

In Meia Praia Beach, by its dimensions (is one of the largest bays in Europe) and the absence of rocks, is ideal for the practice of water sports. There is a windsurfing Centre and, at the Marina, you can obtain information on other activities: scuba diving, water skiing, coarse fishing on the high seas, etc.
In Summer time, the horizon is small white triangles, spotted sails of boats that come to participate in races. Becomes, sometimes unpleasant when the North wind blows strong; On these days, it is preferable to opt for one of the sheltered beaches between the cliffs. Dona Ana beach is a favorite for tourists, perhaps due to the great publicity that is made into postcards.
